Hearst Castle and Elephant Seals

On our first day without the kids we drove down to Hearst Castle and to see the elephant seals.

It was so windy! And pretty smelly!

These are just the juveniles, the BIG ones were up trying to visit us in Seattle and Alaska. 

These seals can dive down one mile! And hold their breath for an hour! Woah!

They bus you to the Hearst castle up on the top of the hill. 

A word to the wise, if you step off the carpet, you get a whipping from the guides.

 

It was considered "classy" to have bottled condiments back in the day.

California has no water, so no water in the outside pool.

California has enough water for the indoor pool

Santa Cruz Beach

The girls went to a beach in Santa Cruz with the cousins, aunts, uncle and grandma.

Woodland Park Zoo

Continuing on our busy day, after the MOHAI and the troll, we went to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle.

This one's for Ashley, she loves Hippos.

We went to the elephant poo paper making station. The girls wouldn't make any, boo hoo!

The Fremont Troll

After the museum, we went to visit the Fremont Troll. There were billy goat bones all over the place.

Hannah picked his nose, but she was too quick for me to get a picture.
