Cannon Beach Tide Pools

We woke up EARLY in the morning to make it out to Cannon Beach for the low tide to see the tide pools at Haystack Rock. It was so much fun. We saw starfish, anemones, urchins, crabs, snails, fish, shrimp, mussels, clams...so many fun things.
We had to walk a long way through the blustery Winnie the Pooh type winds, but thankfully it wasn't raining.

At high tide, this area around Haystack rock is all under water.
Mussels on top, starfish all around and all the dark area is closed up anemones.

Hannah was so brave and touched every thing.

Rachel followed Hannah's lead.

Naomi was a little more apprehensive and did not care for the wind at all.

Hannah had so much fun running through and jumping over all the little pools and trenches.
Ashley found a crab living in a sea shell.

We all had a blast, but I'd say Ashley had the most fun exploring the pools.
Ashley was a great finder.
I tried to get Rachel to take a picture with the purple starfish, her favorite color, but only Hannah would.
Wind ravaged Naomi's starting to come around.

Dancing starfish

The girls were great explorers and Naomi was such the little trooper. What fun getting to see the beautiful sea life in their natural habitat.

wow, that was really worth braving the wind and getting up early for!!!I've never seen so many starfish. We're lucky to find 5-6 at our low tides here. I didn't realize Haystack rock was uncovered in the low tide. What an amazing day and so glad you all got to experience that!

Those starfish were giant! I don't remember them being so big! What a great trip. I want to go with you some time.
