Rachel is 16 months!

Our sweet little Rachel is 16 months already! Last month we took her in for her 15 month check up and I never posted the stats--so I thought I would do it now.
At 15 months Rachel weighed 19 lbs. 12 ounces (below the 10%) and was 32 1/2" (above the 90th%). They were very impressed with Rachel's gross motor skills (she was climbing all over the office) and all of Rachel's words. After the appointment I started counting words and realized Rachel has about 30 of them. Lately my favorite word is "thankyou" which sounds like "day-woo". She says it whenever you give something to her and also whenever she is giving something to you. Rachel is a big sweetheart and so much fun. She is a fabulous sleeper and a great eater. She loves her snuggly blanket, to give kisses, and her sister. We love Rachel!

Birthday Stats

The girls had their well baby check-ups today. This is the first time they had thier appointments together and it went well. I think I will do it that way from now on. Anyway...here are the stats:

Hannah is 37 3/4" tall (75th %) and weighs 30 lbs and 2 oz. (50th%). She was fantastic at the doctors office and did great letting the doctor check her out. She had 3 shots in her arms and did great--she didn't cry at all.

Rachel is 30 1/2" tall (90th%) and weighs 18lbs 2oz. (10th%). She did really well letting the doctor check her out. She had 4 shots in her arms and did cry for a while. Poor little baby!
All in all they are healthy girls. And cute to boot! :)

Half Birthday

Last week was Hannah's 2 1/2 birthday and the week before that Rachel turned 6 months old! We had a cake to celebrate.

A note about the cake: Hannah and Dan went out to our backyard and picked a bucket full of wild blackberries. Yum. So I made a really yummy blackberry filling that made this blah-box cake a little more festive. I was going to make the cake look yummy too, but ran out of time and just threw the frosting one so we could eat it and send those tired girls to bed already!

Little Rachel was very upset that she didn't get any cake. Sorry, baby. You can have cake on your actual birthday. Here are the stats from Rachels 6 month check up....

She is 14lbs (the 10th %) and 27 3/4" long (97th %). The doctor was very impressed by her strength and sitting abilities. She said Rachel is sitting at an 8th month level ;)
Happy half-birthday to my beautiful little girls!

Rachel is 2 Months!

Rachel had her 2 month check up yesterday. She is growing fast. She is 11lbs. 13oz. (50th %) and is 24" long (90th%). She had two shots--one in each leg, but she did pretty good. The doctor shaid she looks great and we think so too.

Rachel is 1 Month Old

We took Rachel to the doctor yesterday for her 1 month check. I was a little surprised to find that she weighs 10lbs 9oz (90th%!) and 22" (75th%). She is healthy and strong and growing fast. She still has her baby acne but it is starting to clear up. We sure do love this girl!

Rubber Duckies!

These are just a few of Hannah's many rubber duckies. She loves to line them up along the tub and then help them jump into the tub.

Hannah went to the doctor for her 2 year check. She was SO brave! She got three shots and didn't cry! She let the doctor check her out and didn't cry. I was amazed. Then it was time to go and they said she had to get dressed--then the tears started flowing. Here she is with her band-aids.

In case anyone is wondering--she is 27 lbs (50th %) and 38 inches (90th %) and is very healthy.

18 Month Check Up

We finally got Hannah in to see a pediatrician for her 18 month check up. Overall she is very healthy. She is 33" tall (in the 75th%) and weighs 25lbs (the 50th%). We did a lot of prep work before the doctors appointment playing with her doctors kit, and talking about what was going to happen. She was very excited to go and kept saying "doctor" and "nurse" and then "tummy" "eyes" "nose" "ears" "knee" as we drove to the office in anticipation of what was about to come. I thought we were going to be ok. But no. She screamed the whole time we were in the doctors office and kept saying "no more!" before they had even measured her. She wouldn't even stand on the scale so I had to stand on it while holding her and then alone so they could figure out her weight. I had to hold her down on the table so they could measure her length (why don't the just let them stand next to a yard stick?). I also had to hold her down for the doctor to look at her tummy, eyes, nose, ears and knees. Oh yeah, and of course, for the shots. This part of being a mom is no fun. When it was all over the nice nurse tried to give Hannah a sticker but Hannah screamed like the nurse had the needle again. But the second we were in the waiting room she was all smiles. She played with toys and hugged random children and smelled the flowers on the way to the car. On the way home she said "doctor, tummy, eyes, nose, ears, knees, nurse!" like she had a great time. What an ordeal. Does it ever get any better? Poor Hannah.

Hannah is 9 Months

Hannah had her 9 month check up today. Guess what...she's still tiny. She weighs 15lbs and 2 oz which puts her in the 2nd percentile. She is 28 inches long and in the 65th percentile. Her head is also still small. It is 42cm's which is in the 5th percentile. Despite being small she is very healthy and the doctor was impressed by her animal impersonations. The nurses were impressed by her walking and she made several nurse-friends while walking the aisles waiting for the doctor. She had 2 shots--one in each little leggy. But she did good and stopped crying as soon as daddy gave her a snacky.
