Hannah's Haircut

I know Hannah is almost 2 1/2 but she just had her first haircut (ok, really it was a trim) a few weeks ago!
I'm ashamed to say I didn't get a "before" shot of the back.

This is Becca Self, Hannah's nursery leader. She cuts my hair, and now Hannah's too!

She was really excited when it was all done.

Here is the "after." It doesn't look much different....but it IS shorter (by a few inches) and not as crazy as before. We are happy :)

Jumping Bean

I couldn't decide which smile I liked best, so I posted them all. Rachel really likes to jump. She jumps on my lap all the time but she has recently discovered a love for our "johnny jumpy."

In case you are wondering, I have to stuff a blanket in there with her to keep her from flopping around.

I love to watch her cute little froggy legs!

Rice Cereal

Rachel got to try some rice cereal for the first time. She loved it!

She likes to "help."

Helper Hannah

Hannah really likes to help me take care of Rachel. Usually she brings me a diaper, or hands me the powder, or gets her binky for me. But lately she wants to do more. The other day when I had to make dinner Hannah told me she would watch Rachel. I sat Rachel down on her boppy and came back a few minutes later to check on them and I found Rachel happily playing with all the toys that Hannah brought to her. Hannah was so proud.

S.A.M.

A few weeks ago we went to the Seattle Art Museum. There was a lot of modern and abstract art. It was interesting.

This was called "raw sewage" or something like that. If you looked inside the bowl, you'd find out why. I wouldn't have posted this picture except that I wanted to tell this funny story. Before we left the Museum Hannah had to go to the bathroom. When we got inside she started to cry because she wanted to go in the colored potty. I just laughed.

Hannah's favorite part of the museum was the signs that said "Do not touch." It's hard to tell in this picture, but she is touching the sign.

Ok. This is art? Maybe I'm just uncultured, but I just don't get it. If you can't tell, It's a whole room dedicated to this one piece of art. The art is 4 squares of scattered newspaper with random blue squares painted onto them.

This was one of the most popular exhibits. It was a blank wall with nails. You could hammer something to the wall with one of the nails.

There was some art that I really enjoyed at the SAM. I just didn't take any pictures. All in all, it was a fun night.

Jim!

Dan's good friend Jim and his cute little family were in town from Texas last week and we got to see them. Their daughter, Cambry, is 13 months. We took the girls to our little zoo.

Hannah and Cambry had a fun time playing together. They liked to chase each other and scream. I wish I had taken a video because they were so cute. Maybe next time.

Rachel Goes Swimming

Little Rachel got to go swimming for the first time last week. Our friends, the Allreds, came over and we took the kids down to the pool.

Dancin Girls!

First, let me start by saying that yes, I do dress Hannah everyday. I promise. She just prefers to be....free. So, once again, sorry about the nakedness. There. Now that that's said, aren't they so cute?!!? I love to watch how little Rachel's eyes light up whenever she see's Hannah. Rachel is already trying so hard to be just like her big sister. She'll be dancin' on her own in no time!

4th of July

We went to the city parade in the morning. It was really all the local kids (and a few adults) who decorated thier bikes and wagons (and animals). They threw candy out at the crowds.


Hannah was confused. Why did that kid just throw candy at me?

But then she didn't care. Hey. She got to try her first Starburst. And she liked it.

After the parade we went to the local Depot Park where they had free jump-o-lines!

Rachel didn't care about all the crowds. She was too busy browsing through the diaper bag.

At night we went to see the fireworks in Bellevue. They started at 10pm but we took the girls anyway.

Hannah really enjoyed the fireworks even though she looks like she's miserable in this photo. She kept telling me she wasn't scared and she would say "ooohh!" and "aaahhh!" and commented on all the pretty colors. She also kept counting from 1 to 20. I'm still not sure why. When we ask her about the fireworks she says "remember Hannah counted the fireworks Mommy?" Yes, baby. I remember.

Dan was holding Rachel and he said she just stared and stared. We think she liked them. It was a happy 4th!

At the "2 year old" Park

There is a little park just a few blocks away that we like to walk to. Hannah calls it the 2-year old park because the sign says that it is for children who are 2 years old.
