Salmon Days Festival

Last weekend was the Salmon Days Festival here in Issaquah. It was just a block away from our house. We went two days in a row so there are a lot of pictures. The first day it was pouring rain and we got pretty wet but we still had lots of fun. Luckily the weather was better on the second day. We started by watching the parade. There were floats there from all over Washington, Oregon, Idaho and even a few from Canada.

This float from Wenachee was about apples and they gave Hannah a little pin. She wore it on her overalls (which she calls "overs") all day.

This was our favorite float. It was about water conservation and every few minutes they did a little routine where they sat on thier toilets and read newspapers.

Hannah really liked any float with a princess on it. She wandered pretty close to a few of them and one nice princess offered to hold her for a picture.

When Hannah thought the parade was lacking, she entertained herself by gathering rocks from the street...

...and by playing in peoples front yards.

A lot of the floats had music. Of course YMCA played a few times.

They had free train rides which Hannah loved.

Hooray for free pony rides!

They also had free jumping tents. Hannah jumped for so long. We didn't know how we were ever going to get her out of there. Then some big kids came in and it only took a few minutes for Hannah to get knocked over and start to cry. It was worth it, though.

This is our friend Jamie. Hannah was sharing her rocks with her.

They had a giant blow up salmon that kids could go in and hear a story.

Hannah eating ice cubes, drinking lemonade, and enjoying her red balloon.

Don't you just love carnival food?

The Creek with Daddy

The other day Dan took Hannah on a little walk to the creek. She loves to throw rocks in the water, get soaking wet, and look for fish.

Deer

Hannah and I went for a walk yesterday and just about 2 blocks away from home there were a few deer sitting in someone's front yard eating apples from their tree. I thought that was pretty neat.

Baths and Bottles

It's a little embarrassing to admit, but Hannah still drinks her milk from a bottle. She can drink from a regular cup, and always drinks her water or juice from a regular cup, but she is pretty insistant on keeping the bottle for drinking milk. Don't worry, I'm working on phasing that out, but for now, oh well. When Hannah gets up in the morning she likes to drink her milk--usually while we lay on the couch together. But the other day she really wanted to have a bath and she wanted to drink her milk in it. So she did.

It's A Girl!

Most likely, that is. We had our ultrasound this week, but little baby was being shy. The tech said she was 85% sure that it is a girl. We did find out that baby weighs 14 ounces (putting her in the 59th%). I am 21 weeks along and the most recent "due date" is Feb. 2nd. We did get some ultrasound pictures, but I haven't been able to get them onto the computer yet. When I do, I will post them. For now...here is a cute picture of Hannah-who is very excited to be a sister (even though when you ask her if she wants a brother or sister she always says brother).

Some poeple have been asking if I am feeling better. The answer is (thankfully) yes. I am still taking my meds and they are helping a lot. As long as I remember to take them on time and I get enough sleep I usually feel pretty good. Horray for that!

What's Your Name?

A few weeks ago Hannah heard Dan calling me "Ashley" to get my attention when he was outside and I was inside. Ever since then, she has been pretty obsessed with names. She will bring me one of her toys and say "name." So I ask her, "What is his name?" and she will tell me. Then she want's to tell me my name, daddy's name, her name and her last name. She also knows her middle name.

The Farmer in the Dell

Here is Hannah "singing" the farmer in the dell. Sorry it is a little dark, she went behind the rocking chair. And sorry for my singing--but I think it's worth it to hear Hannah.

Here Fishy, Fishy!

Right in our "backyard" is a little stream. Hannah and I were walking to the library yesterday and we stopped to look at the water as usual. Only this time there was a 3 foot salmon right there swimming up the river. I left our stroller on the bridge and ran down with Hannah to get a closer look. We were not disappointed. We stayed about 5 minutes and saw about 15 giant fish. They swam so close and the river was really shallow, so we got to see them really well. Pretty soon I couldn't keep Hannah out of the river, so we continued on to the library only to find that it was closed. We decided to walk across the street and check out the Salmon hatchery. It was so neat to see hundreds of giant salmon trying to jump the ladder! I've never seen anything like it before in my life. There is a salmon festival here in two weeks that is supposed to be a big deal. We are excited to go and check it out.

Birthday

It was my birthday on Sunday and Dan made me homemade pasta and yummy ragu for my birthday dinner. Hannah was a really big help. Oh yeah, have I mentioned that Hannah loves to be naked? I try not to post any nude pictures, but I couldn't help it this time. Hannah took off her clothes after church and there was no way she would let me put even a diaper on her! So, sorry for all the naked pictures.

We made some cupcakes for dessert and Hannah wanted to lick the beaters.

Hannah helped with the presents. Actually, she opened them all. She loves to unwrap presents.

Lately I've been pretty clumsy--even more than usual. I broke almost all of our cups. So Dan got me some new ones for my birthday. He wanted to get me plastic ones, but I said I would return them if he did, so he got me some with really thick glass. haha.

After dinner and presents I frosted the cupcakes. Hannah helped and ate the sprinkles quicker than I could put them on. Then she got a little carried away...

Thanks Dan and Hannah for a great birthday!

Sleepy Hannah

Hannah had a late nap the other day. I didn't want her to sleep too late so I woke her up after about an hour. We read a few books and then she took her blanket, laid down on the floor and fell asleep. She has never done that before! She slept on the floor like that for another 2 hours before waking up at 7:30. I put her to bed a little late, but she slept the whole night. She must have been pretty tired.

Tupperware

Tupperware and a little bit of water will keep Hannah entertained for a really long time. She loves to pour water from one tupperware to the other. She usually ends up drinking the water and needs frequent refills. When she spills she says "mess" and then gets a towel to wipe up the spill.
